Combat Rules
Combat Rules #
To prevent players from fleeing into protected safe zones or disconnecting unfairly during fights (combat logging), PurpurMC enforces an automated Combat Tag System.
1. How Combat Tag Initiates (12-Second Rule) #
Dealing damage to another player or receiving player damage instantly initiates a 12-second combat countdown:
- Command Restrictions: While tagged in combat, all commands in chat (
/spawn,/tpa,/ev, etc.) are blocked. - Combat Log Penalty: Disconnecting or quitting the game while your combat timer is active results in instant character death, dropping all your inventory items onto the ground.
2. Timer Resets #
The 12-second timer resets back to 12 seconds whenever:
- Either player strikes the other again.
- A player uses a trident with the Impaling or Loyalty enchantment in combat.
- A player utilizes a trident enchanted with Riptide.
- Either player throws an Ender Pearl.
3. Ending Combat State #
The combat tag ends automatically when any of the following occur:
- 12 seconds elapse without either party dealing damage or triggering a timer reset.
- Combatants move more than 200 blocks away from each other.
- One player teleports to a different dimension.
- A player steps inside a protected claim (Land Claim).
4. Equipment, Elytra & Cooldown Constraints #
To maintain balanced, tactical engagements, the following restrictions apply during combat:
- Elytra & Firework Restriction: While you may glide with an Elytra, fireworks cannot be consumed while tagged in combat. This prevents players from simply rocketing away to escape a losing fight.
- Ender Pearl Cooldown: In combat, throwing an Ender Pearl triggers a 10-second cooldown.
- Trident (Riptide): Activating Riptide on a trident during combat triggers a 10-second cooldown.
5. Combat Tag Status Across Dimensions #
| Dimension | Combat Tag Status | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Overworld | Active | 12-second countdown applies to player fights |
| Nether | Active | 12-second countdown applies to player fights |
| End Dimension | Active | Combat tag rules apply within the Custom End |
| FFA Arena | Active | Combat tag runs continuously in the FFA Arena |
| 1v1 Duels | Disabled | Combat timers do not run in 1v1 Duels |
